I like the dark red/brown colour scheme in the front cover and also i think the fact that your contents page is simple makes it look professional.
However I think that the font on your front cover is a bit too small and hard to read, you could improve this by increasing the font size and making the gutter a little bit smaller.
In the contents page i think the layout is brilliant but you need to add atleast a hue of a certain colour, doesnt have to be bright just decrease the opacity of it to give the page a bit of a pop of colour :D
You have used photoshop effectively to manipulate the masthead. You have also used a range of conventions for a magazine, the use of the colour scheme is effective yet simple. Some part of the cover lines is hard to read due to their positioning. Your content page links clearly to the magazine front cover and the lay out is neat. Some of the numbers on the images are hard to read.
The contents page is very dynamic as it contains college related images and this provides the genre of the magazine as a whole. The inclusion of the editorial is a nice effect as it is commonly featured in professional magazines. The way the contents page is split into featured and regular topics makes the contents page tailored to regular and new readers. Finally the inclusion of social media products makes the page active outside the magazine and on social media.
